Once upon a time, numerous centuries ago, different big cats were born that weren't quite like the rest. They stood out from all the others of their kind, making it hard for them to fit in. They could do what others had believed would be impossible- they could control elements. It all started out with an earth tiger, a fire lioness, a water leopardess, and a wind cheetah- the 'basic' elements. They lived their separate lives and tried their best to hide their powers from everyone else, as they knew too well that otherwise they'd be kicked out of their families and prides. They were still young after all, and would certainly have a hard time trying to survive all on their own out in the wild. They avoided strong movements, tried to sit still most of the time and even covered their paws with leaves. That method worked for a few months, yet at some point, all of them just couldn't take it anymore, and they gave in to their elements, using them and letting them out. Their families as well as all other animals around them were shocked to see those abilities, believing they were playing with 'dark magic'. Within only a day, the four felines were rejected and left behind by everyone around them, even their their families. Not only filled up with deep hatred for the way they were treated, but also despair, they began to travel, just following their inner voices, which lead them far, far away. After weeks of travelling and with tired paws, the tiger, lioness, leopardess and cheetah all ended up in a beautiful area with lakes and trees and just everything one needed to set a home. They all bumped into each other at some point and, full of confusion, asked why the others were here. They told each other their stories and soon realized they had all been going through the same struggles. Lifting each other up and quickly becoming friends, the four felines decided to share the territory they had found and build their own pride, wanting to make it a place of peace and harmony, where nobody would feel left out. And as time passed, more and more big cats joined in who could all control an element. Their group grew bigger and bigger faster than they though and so they were soon confronted with another problem: who would lead the pride?
Of course it would have to be a skilled one. One that knew how to fight, just in case something would happen. But also someone who would make quick decisions. After days of discussing the topic, a mysterious loner entered the territory. Upon approaching him, the lion introduced himself as Tartatus, Keeper of all elements, who had walked the earth for many years and had eventually been told by an inner voice to go and help a pride in need. Blown away by the stranger's strength and wisdom, the group of felines, who had approximately thirty members at the time, started to see Tartarus as their saviour, their hero. It was clear that he would be their leader.
Years passed and the felines, who now called themselves Seekers at Tartarus' command, lived in peace and harmony, just like they had wished. It was so peaceful that almost everyone decided to just laze around all day instead of training, enjoying their lives that included nothing but having fun. Lots of cubs were born and lovingly nursed by their mothers. Everything seemed perfect. However, the outside world, which the felines had seemingly forgotten about, still existed. Lions and tigers and all kind of felines who didn't have elemental abilities learned about the group that lived in a hidden valley. They felt threatened (or --cough; "triggered" :^) ) by them, as they believed the Seekers were planning to eliminate them in order to rule the world; which they clearly didn't. Many different kinds of felines got together and became allies. Their plan was to secretly attack the Seekers and kill them to provide safety for future generations.
The Seekers knew nothing of this attack and still lazed around all the time as one day, a giant group of approximately two-hundret felines entered their territory and attacked them out of nowhere. They were of course surprised, even Tartarus, despite his wisdom, didn't know what to do at first.
Their cubs were killed off, all except one, and only about fifteen Seekers survived, as many didn't know how to properly use their elements to fight anymore. They temorarily fled, taking the young lion cub named Fiontan with them, a young fire Seeker. His mother was luckily alive, but his father, who is said to have been Tartarus himself, died.
Not too long after the "enormous act of violence", the sixteen felines returned to their camp to bury their loved ones corpses. It was a rough time for the group, as they had also lost their leader. Spending many weeks just grieving over their loss, the Seekers eventually got over it, and were now filled with even more hatred. They looked around, looked at each other, and tried to figure out who would be good enough to be the next leader- and their gazes were stuck on the cub. "He's the only cub that survived..." one pointed out. "Yes, he must be truly strong!" another said. It was soon obvious that little Fiontan would be trained to be their next leader, which he became once he was a teen. He learned how to control all elements, just like his father, and although he apparently did not get his father's wisdom but some cruelty instead, he shared his strength, all of which he now uses in order to prepare his Seekers for a great revenge.
